India’s ‘lost tribe’ of Jews looks to Israel

They say they are the descendants of an ancient tribe of Jews exiled from the land of Israel almost 3,000 years ago. In India’s remote Manipur state, this ‘lost’ tribe has lived for generations, adopting Judaism once again in the 1970s. Many members of the Bnei Menashe, as the community is known, now dream of immigrating to Israel, their ‘promised land’.
